'Victorious Voices' with Tania Stewart

Tania Stewart, winner of the Fida Excellence in Fine Art and Print Award 2025, creates captivating artworks that reflect her deep passion and determination. Inspired by her love for fashion, she has gained the recognition she had long been searching for and shares her hopes to turn her passion into a full-time career.

Is being an artist your full-time profession, or more of a personal passion?

Being an artist is more of a personal passion for me, it's something that I do that brings me joy.

Have you entered the awards before, and if so, how many times? If it’s your first time, what made you apply or influenced you to take the plunge?

No, this is the first time I've entered the awards. I believe what made me apply is taking that chance no matter what the outcome would be. My mother influenced me to take this chance and apply to the Fida Worldwide 10th Awards.

How did you feel when you learned that you had won the award, and what do you hope to gain by winning?

When I found out, I was super excited and happy - what I hope to gain by winning is to get noticed for my talent and my work.

What does this recognition mean to you as an artist?

This means a lot to me as an artist because for so long I tried to get recognition for my work, and it never happened for me, but by winning this I can truly get recognised for my work.

Can you share what inspired the winning piece and tell us a bit about your process/what mediums you used?

I wanted to do a fashion-related digital piece on Photoshop on my iPad. I believe what inspired me was me picking a photo to paint from the Jacquemus 2024 collection, because I loved that collection. I used my Photoshop app on my iPad to create the winning piece.

Is there anything you want people to know about you and your work?

Yes, I want people to know that I am really passionate about my work because I work really hard to create art that people would love.

Will this recognition influence the themes or direction of your future work?

Yes, because it will help me create more art that can have a similar feel to the ones I submitted.

What advice would you give to other artists hoping to achieve similar recognition?

The advice that I would give to other artists hoping to achieve similar recognition is to keep working hard and keep trying to take that big risk for your future career, because you never know what the outcome might be.

Is there someone or something you’d like to dedicate this achievement to?

My mother is someone I would like to dedicate this achievement to.

What’s next for you in your artistic journey?

I want to work for a fashion magazine company very soon or make money in the fashion industry creating art for other people.
