'Illustrating Fashion' Series - Louis Vuitton

'Illustrating Fashion' Series - Louis Vuitton

Fida has created the 'Illustrating Fashion' series, where illustrators, artists and image makers have the opportunity to showcase their artwork.

Each month we will be inviting artists to illustrate a different brand, capturing the essence and the philosophy of the designer. Our first project looked at Louis Vuitton.

The Louis Vuitton label was founded by Vuitton in 1854 on Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris. Louis Vuitton had observed that the Osilite trunk could be easily stacked. In 1858, Vuitton introduced his flat-topped trunks with Trianon canvas, making them lightweight and airtight. Before the introduction of Vuitton's trunks, rounded-top trunks were used, generally to promote water runoff, and thus could not be stacked. It was Vuitton's gray Trianon canvas flat trunk that allowed the ability to stack them on top of another with ease for voyages. Many other luggage makers later imitated Vuitton's style and design.

Louis Vuitton is delighted to have Pharrell Williams as its new Men’s Creative Director. His first collection for Louis Vuitton was revealed June, 2023 during Men's Fashion Week in Paris.

Pharrell Williams is a visionary whose creative universes expand from music to art, and to fashion – establishing himself as a cultural global icon over the past twenty years. The way in which he breaks boundaries across the various worlds he explores, aligns with Louis Vuitton’s status as a Cultural Maison, reinforcing its values of innovation, pioneer spirit, and entrepreneurship.
