1- How did you hear about FIDA x Fashion Scout and what access did you get?
I heard about Fida x Fashion Scout through instagram. I was looking for illustration communities that I could join and this one seemed great! I got access to all areas at fashion scout which was great because I love to draw backstage.
2- How do you prepare for Fashion week ?
I keep up with my drawing and go to lots of life drawing classes to make sure I’m not rusty. Truth is you can never fully prepare because you never know what to expect but that’s the fun of it. I’ve done it for a few years now and you still feel like you’re being thrown into the deep end.
3 - What was your experience of drawing live in the front row and backstage?
Front row is fun because you can capture the guests outfits and their reactions to the clothes as they come down the catwalk. However, I love to capture unseen moments in the chaos of backstage. My drawings particularly focus on the makeup touch ups and the anticipation in the line ups before the models walk out.
4 - What key takeaways / learnings did you have to share from drawing at fashion week?
Fashion week is always going to be manic and busy but the best way to get good drawings is drowning out everything else and focussing on what you want to capture. On a more practical stand point, it’s great to memorise how to draw certain angles and poses to help you draw people who are moving constantly.
5 - How do you share and document your work to showcase to your audience?
I do most of my stuff on TikTok and Instagram. This season I started to make vlogs to show my process which was really fun.
